Beta Psi Zeta ChapterBeta Psi Zeta Chapter was officially chartered on Thursday, February 20, 1947, by six members in Omaha, Nebraska at the home of Soror Lucyle B. (McAlister) Avant’s home at 2101 Locust Street. The Charter Members were Sorors Lucyle (McAlister) Bivens Avant, Beatrice Jackson, Edna Blair Moses, Eloise Jones Taylor, Edmae Swain, and Clemmie E. (Alexander) Reynolds. The International President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Lullelia Walker Harrison, traveled to Omaha for Beta Psi Zeta chapter’s chartering ceremony. Since 1992, The Beta Psi Zeta Chapter has carried out community service through commitment to it’s Stork’s Nest program housed at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, which serves mothers and their babies. The Beta Psi Zeta chapter is the Adopt-A-School partner to Belvedere Elementary School. Other signature events and projects include, Walk for Babies and Bingo for Babies (fundraisers benefiting the Stork’s Nest program), Blue Revue (a scholarship fundraiser that awards college scholarships to graduating high school seniors), and March for Babies (a fundraiser and awareness walk for national partner, March of Dimes).
